Job Duties:
Perform a variety of semiskilled duties, including but not limited to basic plumbing, air conditioning, electrical, painting, carpentry, and grounds maintenance for the repair and preventative maintenance of university buildings and facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform basic general maintenance and repairs to campus buildings and other facilities throughout the university under direct supervision
- Under direct supervision, perform basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical tasks
- Maintain indoor and outdoor surfaces in regard to painting, cleaning surfaces, pressure washing, installing, and repairing flooring and carpets
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting of various building systems, and associated components
- Coordinate with supervisors to schedule repairs and maintenance
- Load and unload the truck and move furniture and equipment as needed
- Use power tools to assemble, disassemble, and reconfigure furniture and equipment
- Assist in preparing both indoor and outdoor spaces for events for employees, visitors, and the public, as needed by campus operations
- Assist with emergency preparedness and support as needed, including snow and ice removal, storm cleanup, etc.
- Complete other duties as assigned, including but not limited to the care and upkeep of grounds and landscaping, including mowing, mulching, trimming, etc.
Required Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of coating materials, required tools, and equipment
- Knowledge of the use of appropriate materials for various types of surfaces
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work off of and to set up scaffolding in a productive and safe manner
- Ability to organize and plan daily work assignments
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to react to change productively
PREFERRED LICENSE, CERTIFICATION, OR SPECIAL CREDENTIALS:
- Plumbing experience
- Knowledge of electrical components
- HVAC systems experience
- Painting experience
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to operate a large range of landscaping and maintenance equipment
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with others
- Ability to understand electronic work orders and instructions as well as directions for the proper mixture, use, and disposal/storage of cleaners, solvents, chemicals, fertilizers, and similar products used in all areas of maintenance
- Must have full range of mobility in upper and lower body; be able to reach overhead; be able to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, etc.
- Ability to adjust or move objects up to 100 pounds
- Must be able to distinguish among colors
Salary Schedule:
Wage Range: $16.25 - $20.32 - $24.38 per hour
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
